Card-Catalog Tower

Wood

Inspired by library card-catalog cabinets, this organizational tower stands 24" tall and 10.5" deep. It contains six fully removable drawers. This project was started by creating a finger-joint box cut-file to be executed using a CNC laser. These box bodies were made from .25" plywood. After assemble, .5" white oak fin-ply was used to create drawer faces and the tower. Shelf grooves were routed into a single sheet and then cut in half to create the left and right sides. Shelves were cut and glued into position. After basic assembly was complete, edge banding was added to all exposed plywood faces to create the look of a solid wood piece. All white oak surfaces were stained and sealed. To complete the look, bronze drawer labels were added.
